Me.
Born and raised in New Jersey, but a true Coloradoan at heart. I moved to Colorado assuming I'd only be spending a couple months here, but soon fell in love with the elevation, clean air, mountains, and friendly people. Though I've spent the majority of my working life as a barista, I now hold a full time (salaried!) job which I attained after finishing my Masters in Community Nutrition. I've spent way too many years learning about how food physically affects the body, but I am much more interested in the emotional aspects of food and creating delicious food to make people happy!
To keep myself learning and growing as a person, I created this blog. I can share deeper thoughts and stories with those back east and also force myself to hone in on my cooking skills and creative life. Hopefully, one day, these skills can be turned into a more solid career path, but for now it remains my passion after 5 pm. I also love the outdoors- running, hiking, and snowboarding are my favorite! I get excited over extremely small details, but that's what keeps me loving life and seeking out adventure. Though currently residing in an apartment, hopefully my future will take me to a bit more space with a garden, chickens, and maybe some other animals where I can learn how to truly live off of the land!

My Man.
This is Joda. He's my shot of whiskey. We've known each other for well over 10 years and were married in May of 2011. Growing up, he spent many summers in Tennessee learning how to be a cowboy. He's an avid mountain man, beard and all. When I get too carried away, he brings me down to real life. When I feed him too many vegetables, he lets me know it. Our differences draw us together and we have an amazingly fun time. He has taught me so much about chasing dreams and life and I am such a lucky girl to get to spend forever with him! While he doesn't quite understand my fascination (*coughobsessioncough*) with food, he supports me and will try almost anything! He's a great food critic, but sometimes needs to be reminded to taste the food he's eating.
My Dog.
This is Kale. He's a border collie/golden retriever mix. He was abandoned and found wandering the streets in Denver in the Spring of 2010. Plagued by a house full of small, yippie dogs, the people that picked him up off the streets realized they couldn't keep him. Upon meeting Kale, I knew we'd be great lifelong companions! He will sleep all day unless entertained but as soon as he senses that it's time for a run/hike/bike ride (he knows which clothes are for going outside), he runs around like crazy. He loves the outdoors and chasing any other animal or bug. He's also a huge snuggler and will become your best friend in an instant.
